The momentum continues in LittyvILLe. Fans are ready to see the University of Illinois’ Football program in a new light, and so are recruits. Along with some great 2019 prospects visiting the campus in the last couple months, 2020 prospects are taking interest in the rising program.

Of the many prospects that visited in April, among them was Tomball Memorial High School QB Chandler Galban. He is a gifted QB that can do it all from using his legs to get out of trouble as well as throwing a bullet down the field. Despite garnering attention from standout programs such as Arizona State, Houston, Illinois, Iowa State, TCU, and Texas Tech, he has yet to receive any scholarship offers. I took sometime to talk to him about his recruitment.

AS: What are some of strengths of your game and where do you think you can improve?

Chandler Galban: I feel like my strengths are my football IQ, physical tools/abilities, my leadership, and my work ethic. I would just like to continue to get better each and everyday because I want to be the best.
AS: How is your recruiting process going? What has been the best part?

Chandler Galban: The recruiting process is going great and I’ve been receiving interest from major programs across the country. I am really enjoying getting to know each of these programs and coaching staffs.

AS: You have a bunch of interest from great programs, which are the ones that stand out to you?

Chandler Galban: I really don’t have a favorite at the moment. I am just going through the process and trying to learn as much as I can about every school that is showing interest.

AS: How was your visit to Champaign back in April? Who are some of the coaches that you have been in contact with from UIUC?

Chandler Galban: My visit to Champaign was great. They are definitely a school that is high on my list. They have a good thing going there and are definitely a school that has a lot to offer on and off the field. The environment is amazing and the coaches are great. It is an exciting time there with the new facilities that are currently being built and the recruiting classes that they are putting together. I have mostly talked to Coach Stoker and Coach Rod Smith.

AS: Are you planning on taking any other visits soon or over the summer?

Chandler Galban: I plan on visiting Oklahoma State, North Carolina, Mississippi State, Boston College, Indiana, Wake Forest, Louisville, Arizona State, and of course Illinois and several others.

AS: It’s very early, but which school would you say, if any, is in the lead for your recruitment?

Chandler Galban: No clubhouse leader right now. I am really just looking for a place that feels like home and that is a great fit, both academically and athletically.

Aarmani’s Take

The Illini recently added 4 star ATH Isaiah Williams to a plethora of QB’s on the roster. Come 2020, some will have moved on and that will open up space for more commitments. I believe Chandler Galban is not only one of the best QB’s in Texas but among the best in the nation. His recruitment will continue to blow up over the next few years and if the Illini can get into his final list of schools, they should have a great chance of landing his services. Once the 2019 recruiting class is finished, I think you will see a lot more schools across the country prioritize Chandler Galban.
